In one of the ensemble’s early concerts, I programmed and conducted Océan de Terre, a work by the British composer Oliver Knussen based on the poem of the same name by the French, surrealist poet Guillaume Apollinaire. Not finding a suitable translation on-line we enlisted the services of Janet to translate the poem for inclusion in the program. Janet sent us a terrific translation, which captured the surrealist feel of the poem, delivered in a very timely manner.
